Multiple submissions from same families or business is a show of strength and conviction by people who will put their money where there mouth is in not standing by waiting for the "we should have done something" brigade when its too late for what will be an environmental disaster on a WORLD protected site (RAMSAR) as well as numerous other European schemes. Just because we oppose this proposal doesn't mean we do not want progress, many of these families as you have noted have watched Strandhill develop. Development at what cost? The earth does not belong to us to destroy!!

Point taken - the same letter template has also been used multiple times. No, I have not gone through each individual letter....

Having said that - 70+ is a huge number, regardless of source of submission.

Many of the letters comment that that wish to see the airport grow - this was also the unanimous sentiment at the public meeting. I believe the opposition to be based on a more thorough investigation of the alternatives.

Well, there may be 71 submissions registered, but if you go to the SligoCoCo website and look at the names and addresses of those who have submitted on this airport application, you will see that the same family name turns up at the same address or business for quite a number of those submissions. If you filter out the possible multiple submissions from within one family, or from the same address, or from within one business, for instance, the actual number of 'individual' submissions is rather less. Looks like the odds are being stacked by those opposing the project. Let us hope that the Council will not be overly influenced by the number of submissions rather than their substance.
