There seems to be a severe litter problem on the corner of Buenos Ayres Drive and the top road (just opposite Kellys).

This is a shame as the local tidy towns committee has been doing sterling work over the past 12 months or so in organising clean ups around the village.

So – what can be done about this? The first thing might be to talk to the local councillors and see what advice or pointers they might have. Also – it might be a good idea to contact the owners (a development company I think based in Galway) about how they might make the lower entrance secure – currently the double gates are off the hinges.

I can’t take it anymore ,Strandhill in Sligo is a filthy ,disgusting pit…every five feet I walk there are cigarette butts strewn all along the streets leading down to the seafront, dog dirt every few feet and just the other day walking out my front door onto the street to get into my car and I kicked a huge pile of horse shit…do people not understand that all of this dirt ends up in our ocean where we swim, surf and fish…this dirt is a haven for disease and an ecological nightmare…we are literally allowing selfish people to turn this little village into a complete shit hole…I have confronted some of these people only to be met with blank faces or hostile feedback…this anti social behaviour must stop, people need to be forced to take responsibility for their littering, smokers need to be educated on the fact that YES a small fag butt is actually rubbish…and irresponsible animal owners need to be forced to clean up their shit…A very pissed off Hawaiian…
